Adventure in the Tetons

Caitlyn and Conner wanted pictures that showed them as a couple, capturing their love, so when I suggested doing an adventure session they were all about it! I suggested we do the Jenny Lake trail into Hidden Falls in Grand Teton National Park. It’s a decently easy, 4.6 mile, out and back trail!

We started out on the trail and I just wanted to let them enjoy the hike and be together. I offered little direction in posing but suggested a few places to stop and take a few pictures. I really wanted them to just live in the moment together and allow the story to unfold.

I asked Caitlyn how her and Connor met and this is what she wrote, “Connor and I met in your typical, modern way – on a dating app! I definitely consider myself lucky though because it’s not everyday you match with someone online that you instantly click with & everything feels right, let alone actually want to meet in person, but that’s exactly how it happened for us.
After we matched and messaged back and fourth for a couple days, we decided to meet in person. Instantly I knew I just met someone I was meant to meet. There was never any awkwardness, I never felt uncomfortable and we could just talk and talk, for hours. We both knew that it was special.”

A few days before the hike I suggested the write a letter to each other to read once we got to the falls, to allow them to be together and for me to capture some real and raw emotion between the two. I loved this idea and so did Caitlyn! They shared these intimate letters in a little grove of trees by the waterfall.

We ate a little snack and then headed back out to our vehicles! On the way back I had them doing the same thing as on the way in. Living in the moment, & stopping in a few places to capture some epic photos! These two very clearly love each other so much and I’m so happy they asked me to capture their love in the Tetons!

This session has become my baby and I cannot wait to give more people this amazing experience of story telling photography!
